Thanks

I just wanted to thank everyone who has and is fasting for Adam and Ben this week. I feel like we should just fast for everyone in our family-it seems like everyone of our families could use it. Right now I am just trying not to hold my breath. I'm trying to remain productive and rested so that if we are accepted to OCPM that I'll be ready to get us there and settled. I have high hopes and will continue to fast and pray through Friday. We should find out by May 14 if he accepted or not. We are also making plans to move forward if we are not accepted.

Adam leaves tomorrow morning and will make it to his hotel in the afternoon tomorrow. On Friday morning he will go to the campus for a tour and then he will meet with the dean for a one on one interview. They told him that all of this will take from 9-2:30. After this he will meet up with our good friend Jeremy who is graduating from dental school this year. Adam will come home late on Saturday night.

Thanks again for everyone who is supporting us in this endeavor.

Zoo Race

Abby ran her very first zoo race. We all ate blueberry eggos in the car. We got there just in time to meet up with Becca, Sara, Ivy, Theron, and Connor. Abby ran the 1 mile fun run. She got to see the giraffes, elephants, tigers, lions, and a monkey. Then Adam and I ran the 5k. Adam, as predicted, won between two of us. Congratulations, sweetheart. Abby got her face painted and had fun with cousins, grandma and grandpa, and mimi and grandad. As you all can see I've got some pretty good allergies going on right now, that's why my face looks like a picaso painting.

More Pictures

So I did get a new camera. And Sea World sent us 3 passes to make up for our bad customer service experience. And we found a radio to replace our burnt out one.

Meditation

When I was in yoga (I am taking a break) the teacher talked about meditation. There are many different types of meditation but the one that she was focused on teaching us was a form of stress-relief. The whole point of this type of meditation was to simply be in the moment. The constituted of only concentrating on what was going on at the present moment. I found this incredibly difficult and defaulted to her suggestion for struggling students to simply repeat in your mind "I am here" over and over. After a few tries I found it remarkably relaxing.

I decided that that is one of the great enticements of running for me. I have to concentrate on using my whole body to run so that I have long periods of time where I simply live in the moment. I can easily go in between two modes of deep thought and living in the moment while I run. There are very few if any distractions. However I have noticed that being distracted and not being in the moment and having a run where most of my time is spent in a time of meditation is the difference of wether I had a good run.

This is signficant for me. It is an awesome coping mechanism to take a break from worrying about the past and future and focus on what is going on right now. It makes life feel more conquerable and definable.
